A Single Man: Directed by Tom Ford

Tom Ford, best known for turning around the fashion house known as GUCCI, recently completed his first feature film, A SINGLE MAN, which he both wrote and directed. The film is an adaptation of the 1964 novel of the same name by Christopher Isherwood. the film stars Julianne Moore, Colin Firth, Matthew Goode and was premiered last week at the Venice Film Festival where it was nominated for the Golden Lion(best picture) and Firth won for best actor. Considering Ford's reputation for style, design, sophistication, and for his knack of stretching boundries, this film if anything will be a visual experiment that one familiar with Ford's work should not miss.

Synopsis:
Set in Los Angeles in 1962, A Single Man is the story of George Falconer, a British college professor (Colin Firth) who is struggling to find meaning in his life after the death of his long-time partner, Jim (Matthew Goode). We follow George through a single day, where a series of encounters, ultimately leads him to decide if there is a meaning to life after Jim. George is consoled by his closest friend, Charley (Julianne Moore), a 48-year-old beauty, and is stalked by one of his students, Kenny (Nicholas Hoult).
