THE MEN WHO STARE AT GOATS | TRAILER

Must See...

George Clooney fans can rejoice once again as the old-school actor looks like he’s got another winner. Check out this trailer for The Men Who Stare At Goats and I dare you not to smirk when Clooney spouts a couple of Jedi lines. The flick also stars Kevin Spacey, Jeff Bridges and Ewen McGregor, but judging from the trailer, Clooney takes the cake here.

Brad Pitt x Spike Jonze: International Commerical Superstars

If you ever wondered how Brad Pitt is able to support his 6 children, motorcycles, and one of the most beautiful women in the world, well it's definitely not his pay checks from BURN AFTER READING. In fact, it's probably his endorsement deals from overseas companies that pay him a kazillion dollars to appear in their commercials. For their most recent campaign, Japan's Softbank, one of Japan's biggest corporations, partnered Brad with filmmaker Spike Jonze to create a series of commercials that aims to show just how far Softbank will go to serve you. Check out one of these spots below to see how they got their message across:

The Window Phone by Seunghan Song

Check out this ridiculously sick concept for a see-through phone that not only has the screen format to your weather enviroment but a keypad that activates by breathing on the screen! BBM or no BBm, this phone will be mine when its made available in roughly 20 years =)!!

"Of the many interesting concepts coming out of the International Design Excellence Awards, this one is the truth. Designer Seunghan Song’s concept Window Phone imagines what it would be like to get the weather from your mobile, as intuitively as looking out your window. The touch sensitive phone is a piece of glass which changes in appearance based on your local weather, going from clear and sunny, to rainy or frosty."

SPIKE JONZE X KANYE WEST | WE WERE ONCE A FAIRTYTALE

Having previously collaborated on the music video for "Flashing Light's" & "See You In My Nightmare's", director Spike Jonze and musician Kanye West have once again teamed up to create a 14-minute short film entitled "We Were Once a Fairytale".

The film premiered at the LA Film Festival and will be available for download on iTunes on September 8th.

According to The Daily Swarm:

The short, written and directed by Spike Jonze, walks the fine line between self aggrandizement and self mockery that runs through all of Kanye’s endeavors. But the filmmaking is on point, with cinematography and sound design that authentically renders that feeling of being really disoriented in a nightclub. One doesn’t need to love Kanye to love the film, but the Jonze short takes what people love and hate about Kanye’s persona and then pushes it into a new, trippy realm. And in case you’re wondering, the answer is no, Kanye still can’t act. The film features the song “See you in my Nightmares” from 808s and Heartbreaks, remixed and pretty severely tweaked by Spike Jonze’s brother and N.A.S.A.‘s Squeak E. Clean (Sam Spiegel).

JOHN VARVATOS X ERNST BENZ | CHRONOSCOPE

Limited to 250 pieces per colorway, the watches blend the rough underground style of Varvatos with the elegant precision of Ernst Benz: tough New York City meets serious Switzerland. This contrast is demonstrated between the vintage-inspired finishing of brushed and polished steel framing a large retro dial, with the luxurious use of high-end exotic skin straps in either alligator, bison or calf custom executed exclusively for the collection.

The 2 watches are available at John Varvatos locations worldwide, and will be eventually followed by the release of two additional models, a vintage white and vintage silver.

JOHN HUGHES: Thank You and R.I.P.

Last week we lost another legendary artist when John Hughes died of a heart attack at the age of 59. The man was responsible for countless of the most memorable movies of the past century including PRETTY IN PINK, THE BREAKFAST CLUB, PLANES, TRAINS, AND AUTOMOBILES, and HOME ALONE just to name a few. For me, Hughes and his work was one of the reason I chose to get into the movie business in the first place as his work and understanding of young adults transcended time. I don't know one person who can't list at least one John Hughes movie that he was directly on in directly responsible for that is not in some way memorable. Whether it be a quote, a scene, a song, or a message, John Hughes films more then any other struck a chord with the younger generation through not only the 80's but even today. I will miss the man and his work but am grateful that he has left such a lasting and memorable legacy that we will be able to enjoy and remember for years to come. That said, check out this amazing tribute from the folks at ECLECTIC METHOD that attempts to fit some of John Hughes most memorable moments in a 5 minute clip. The other clip is a montage of all the movies he directed pieced together by a guy on YOU TUBE, great stuff!

HEATH LEDGER X MODEST MOUSE: KING RAT

Sorry if we are a bit late with this video but I couldn't help but share this with you. Shortly before his tragic death, directed a music video for the indie rock band Modest Mouse for the song King Rat, a bonus track from the band’s 2007 release We Were Dead Before The Ship Even Sank. Although Ledger died before the video was completed, the project was finished by the actor's partners at film company The Masses with the full support of Heath's family. "Ledger conceived the video's theme in order to raise awareness of the plight of whales hunted down illegally off the coast of his native Australia." This video is just another example of the staggering genius of Heath and makes his loss that much more tragic.
