WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE: A Pop-Up Shop

Making it's grand opening this past Saturday evening at LA's Space 15(Cahuenga Corridor in Hollywood) was the official WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE pop-up store that will be up and running until middle of next month."Employing two different spaces in the shopping complex, the WTWTA team offered in one room all the newly minted Where the Wild Things Are commercial fare that is coming out with the movie, including huggable stuffed animals, hip soft T-shirts and, best, full-body creature creations by Christian Joy that will be the hit of any Halloween party this year (at $800); and, in the gallery, dozens of conceptual brainstorming sketches of said Wild Things, the darling semi-sinister monsters of Maurice Sendak's iconic children's book, along with photographs of Jonze and his production crew in action creating the film."

PAUL SMITH X EVIAN

I know water is water but we're big fans of interesting colloborations and needless to say this is definitely one of them. This is what HighSnobiety had to say about the partnership:

"After Jean Paul Gaultier, UK designer Paul Smith is the next one in line to design a limited edition bottle for French water maker Evian. The bottle comes with a very clean design and features the signature colors of the designer, along with his signature. The bottle is now available at finer food stores."

New Nike commercial directed by David Fincher (Alien, Fight Club, Curious Case of Benjamin Button) featuring Adrian Peterson of the Minnesota Vikings entitled "NIKE Pro Combat: Trail of Destruction (Alter Ego)".

You may remember Fincher's previous Nike commercial titled "Fate" featuring Troy Polamalu & LaDainian Tomlinson...

A Single Man: Directed by Tom Ford

Tom Ford, best known for turning around the fashion house known as GUCCI, recently completed his first feature film, A SINGLE MAN, which he both wrote and directed. The film is an adaptation of the 1964 novel of the same name by Christopher Isherwood. the film stars Julianne Moore, Colin Firth, Matthew Goode and was premiered last week at the Venice Film Festival where it was nominated for the Golden Lion(best picture) and Firth won for best actor. Considering Ford's reputation for style, design, sophistication, and for his knack of stretching boundries, this film if anything will be a visual experiment that one familiar with Ford's work should not miss.

Synopsis:
Set in Los Angeles in 1962, A Single Man is the story of George Falconer, a British college professor (Colin Firth) who is struggling to find meaning in his life after the death of his long-time partner, Jim (Matthew Goode). We follow George through a single day, where a series of encounters, ultimately leads him to decide if there is a meaning to life after Jim. George is consoled by his closest friend, Charley (Julianne Moore), a 48-year-old beauty, and is stalked by one of his students, Kenny (Nicholas Hoult).

MICHAEL JORDAN X SHEPARD FAIREY

The man behind the iconic Obama campaign image and Obey paid homage to the G.O.A.T. this week, who if you didn’t know, is being inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame on Friday.

Little is known about the poster, other than that it is 18″x24″ and utilizes Fairey’s famous layered stencil technique. With almost three full days left until Michael’s induction ceremony, it looks like the tributes are far from over.

NOM DE GUERRE: Fall 2009

Here is a quick look at the upcoming Fall 2009 collection from New York collective and a personal favorite of mine, NOM DE GUERRE. "This lookbook draws inspiration from the military, and early arctic expeditions by explorers like Shackleton and Scott, with clean lines, high-breasted naval peacoats, and heavy sweaters." Besides the great look of the line, photographer Erik Swain has created a unique environment to showcase the spirit of the collection. To view more pictures, click HERE.

DIRT PO(OR)STER | BY ROLAND TIANGCO

Roland Reiner Tiangco is a designer from Brooklyn with a rather good name, and this is his rather genius-like call to arms for the kids of the ‘information generation.’ The first in a series of posters, ‘Dirt Po(or)ster‘ is a physically interactive art statement that, once dirtying the hands of the recipient, reveals a message by rubbing your dirty mitts across the spot-varnished type.
