BAY CITIES DELI | SANTA MONICA

As a friend of mine once said, if you ask anyone in Santa Monica where a good place to eat is...10 out of 10 will say Bay Cities Deli. After 20+ years in business, Bay Cities has earned itself the reputation for some of the best sandwiches in Los Angeles. I had the pleasure of enjoying a gourmet pastrami sandwich on Friday afternoon and was instantly hooked.

With a fair price (About $6-$8 depending on what you want) these sandwiches are sure to leave you stuffed and thinking about a return visit in the near future. Make sure to check them out next time you're in the area. 1517 Lincoln Blvd. (In between Broadway and Colorado)

The Godmother with the works. Godmother is hands down their most popular sandwich. Genoa salami, Mortadella salami, Coppacola ham, Prosciutto, provolone cheese... with the 'works - mayo, mustard (yellow, honey or dijon), onions, pickles, tomatoes, lettuce, mild or hot peppers , & Italian salad dressing. You can order it spicy too! (The one pictured has avocado added).

Hot Pastrami with the works. I had this one, Uh-may-zing.

Always packed.

Some interesting salads if your into that kind of thang.

It's what's on the inside that counts...

You can even order online so you don't have to wait! Check out their site HERE.

LA FROZEN YOGURT | BY SARAH LUERY

It began with what I'll affectionately refer to as Pinkberry Pandemonium.

It arrived on the scene in 2005 - a frozen yogurt like none other in existence. It was sweet. It was tart. And it changed the face of the frozen yogurt industry as we knew it.

An avid 21 Choices connoisseur at the time, I remember being skeptical. What was this so-called “Crackberry” that was turning even the most discerning of Angelenos into dairy-hungry clods?

"It tastes like real yogurt, but frozen," a friend had explained to me, when I asked what gave Pinkberry its edge over the rest.

I was skeptical at first. But five dollars and one bite later, I, too, was an addict.

Looking back now, it’s hard to imagine that I once waited in hour-long lines – and suffered two parking tickets (darn you, Pinkberry on Huntley!) – for the sake of my fix.

But then again, it’s even harder to imagine life without that “Plain Tart” flavor which has come to be synonymous with frozen yogurt in LA.

Pinkberry may always be a staple in LA, but luckily for us, numerous copycats have sprung up over the years offering delicious and wallet-friendly alternatives.

Here are some of the best frozen yogurt options the city has to offer, summarized for your convenience in Haiku form. Enjoy!

Kogi Truck: East Meets West

I'm sure by now most of you know about the craze that is the Kogi bbq truck. If you don't know, now you will. The Kogi Truck is the brainchild of Mark Manguera, who has worked at numerous prestigious five star hotels in Los Angeles and achieved the title of Food and Beverage director before the age of 30. Mark has the pedigree of a world class restaurateur and has taken the taste of Korean BBQ and fused it with select spices to create some of the most unique and savory bites in LA. What makes their success even crazier, is that they pretty much exclusively use TWITTER, to let everyone know where they will be that day as the location of the truck switches hourly.

We were skeptical at first(it's just a taco!), but after the first bite we were hooked. So take our word for it, follow the truck and brave the lines and you will not be dissapointed. Maybe next time you will buy us one.
