LEGO'S: A Hip-Hop Album Cover

Over at the online music publication Format Magazine, they have taken a series of the most famous hip-hop covers of the last 25 year and reconfigured them as LEGOS. "Shot in the Format studio by Nick Hanekom, and graphically produced by beat-maker Glen Manucdoc, the little Lego guys assume the notorious album cover poses once carried about by the likes of Ghostface Killah, Biz Markie and RUN-D.M.C., to name a few."

IT'S RAAAAAAAANDY

Coming out in theaters this coming Friday is the highly anticipated Judd Apatow-Adam Sandler movie FUNNY PEOPLE. The movie is about a seasoned comedian George Simmons who he has terminal disease and his desire to form a genuine friendship cause him to take a relatively green performer under his wing as his opening act(Seth Rogen). However, the movie also showcases a bunch of stand up comedy from the likes of Sandler, Roger, Jonah Hill, and most notably comedian Aziz Ansari's alter ego RANDY. I was fortunate enough to screen the movie this past week and have to say that RANDY steals every scene that he is both with his stand up and interaction with the other characters. Apatow was so impressed with his performance that he decided to shoot a mockumentary on Randy using his own money and has confirmed he is looking to shoot a feature film around the character. Take a look at these genius videos shot by Mr. Apatow featuring RAAAAAAAANDY.

555 KUBIK Facade Project by Daniel Rossa
WOW!!! I have no words for this video. Some truly innovative and creative work on display here. Can't wait to see something like this come to the states. This is what Limited Hype had to say about the piece:
"Daniel Rossa makes architecture come to life and evolve in the captivating Facade Projection project, 555 KUBIK. Produced by Urbanscreen for the Hamburg Kunsthalle, the museum designed by German architect, O. M. Ungers, known for his rationalist designs and use of cubic forms. Not only does Rossa reflect the theories of Gallerie der Gegenwart’s design, but it unravels different interpretations through fluid movement, mulitple perceptions and and evolving visual pattern on a beautiful canvas: the facade of the building itself."

LANVIN: Fall 2009 Sneakers

One of my favorite brand of sneakers(that I cant afford!) are produced by French fashion house Lanvin. Their latest low top sneakers are available in brown suede with a metallic copper toe and a black version as well. If you like what you see and got some disposable bread, the kicks retail for $615. They are available online at BROWNS FASHION.

Sex Sells: The Art of the Billboard

The folks over at The Huffington Post have assembled a list of the most scandalous billboards in New York City. Not surprisingly, a good number of them are compliments of Calvin Klein as their ads were among the raciest of the 90's. These days billboards are often underused and overlooked, but I would argue that an original and memorable billboard will resonate more then any other form of advertisement.

Jean-Michel Basquiat X Reebok

Check out the latest hi-tops from Reebok as they continue to collaborate with work of the late, great artist Jean-Michel Basquiat. Like most of the awesome kicks out there, these will first be released in Japan and then hopefully make there way to shops in the US sometime in Fall of 2009.

NIKE SB X P-ROD X ICE CUBE | TODAY WAS A GOOD DAY
Nike SB brought it back old school style with Paul Rodriguez (arguably the best skater in the world) & Rapper Ice-Cube. P-Rod riding his board around LA and Ice-Cube doing the same in his low-rider is just a terrific homage to old school rap video's and attitude. P-Rod makes all the tricks look so easy it really pisses me off! It's always good to see Ice-Cube bringing it back to his roots...enjoy.
FAMILY TRADITION: A Collection Curated by Ron English

This past Sunday at the popular Melrose store De La Barracuda, a collection of pieces created by different artists assembled by artist Ron English that were inspired by the 1970's masterpiece THE GODFATHER were on display."The show featured an impressive star-studded lineup including Carlos Bautista, Chet Zar, Clark Fox, Eric White, Francesco LoCastro, Genevive Zacconi, Gibby Haynes (Butthole Surfers), Mark Dean Veca, Mike Shinoda (Linkin Park), Robert Craig, Travis Louie, and Tristan Eaton. Set in dramatic fashion, the paintings were displayed on easels surrounded by black curtains – fitting the theme well." Besides featuring a collection of different art work, there are several limited edition toys available as well by the different artists. If you missed the LA event, the show will next be seen in New York followed by Manilla and other cities around the world.

Where The Wild Things Are: A Spike Jonze Joint

What do you get when you pair one of the most beloved children's books, a brilliant and innovative director, and a soundtrack that is out of this world? Well the answer to that my friends is Spike Jonze's upcoming adaption of the Maurice Sendak's classic novel WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE. "The book(and movie) is about the wild adventure of a boy named Max who is sent to his room without his supper by his mother as punishment for talking back. Max wears a distinctive wolf suit during his adventures and encounters various mythical creatures, the "wild things". Although just ten sentences long, the book is generally regarded as a masterpiece of American illustrated children's literature. The movie stars Catherine Keener, Mark Ruffalo, Max Records and features the voices of Forest Whitaker, James Gandolfini and Catherine O'Hara. This is easily one of the most anticipated movies of the fall and will be released nationwide on October 16th 2009. Check out the trailer below featuring one my favorite songs, 'Wake Up' by Arcade Fire.

REAL LIFE CARTOONS | PIXELOO

Stewie Griffin

Mario

Jessica Rabbit (is it wrong if I find her attractive?)

Homer

For all you GTA fans out there....Niko
Pixeloo is a very talented web artist. With the help of PhotoShop he manipulates these cartoon characters into real-life people (somewhat). I think their awesome and I love his choices of characters. The Mario image creeps me out a little....
Thanks to JollyBeGood for the find.
