TAG HEUER: STEVE MCQUEEN VS LEWIS HAMILTON

Check out this incredible new ad from the folks at TAG HEUER watches. They have taken legendary bad boy actor Steve McQueen and his film 'LeMans' and mixed it with current #1 race car driver Lewis Hamilton to promote the updated and 40th anniversary version of their watch MONACO. TAG Heuer created the first square-cased watch, powered by the world’s first automatic chronograph in 1969 and was featured on McQueen's wrist in 'LeMans'. The ad features the two men squaring off in a historic duel between McQueen’s Porsche 917 and Hamiton’s F1 Mercedes Benz.

New sneaker collaboration by Kanye and LV. The photos are pretty cool, taken by Paris Photographer La MJC. The 3 different styles include: The Don, The Jasper, & The Mr. Hudson; all Kanye's close friend's. I definately like these more than the Yeezy's, what do you think?

In the spirit of Kanye and follow up to an old post; below is the new video for Jay-Z's Death of Autotune. D.O.A. is the first single off of his upcoming Blueprint III. Jay-Z grew his hair out...I donno about this one...Anyway's, look out for cameo's from Harvey Kietel and LeBron James. Enjoy.

Nike Fall 2009 Tennis Classic Vintage

One of my favorite tennis shoe models is Nike's take on the classic, vintage tennis shoe. Recently, they have become more creative with the color ways and material they have used and have created some of the best looking and comfortable shoes out there. The most recent ones come in black and white premium leathers and accents in neon yellow on the white and red on the black one. No price point yet for these shoes but I assume they will be around $100-$150.

There will never be another. No matter what you think of his private life or things he had been accused of, Michael Jackson will go down as one of the greatest artists that ever lived. One of his greatest performances was at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium on March 25, 1983 for the MOTOWN: YESTERDAY, TODAY, AND FOREVER concert. Oldie But a Goodie: Hollywood Portfolio

CHRISTOPHER NOLAN and the late HEATH LEDGER, The Risktakers

Back in March of this year, Vanity Fair and Annie Leibovitz came out with an 11 page photo spread of the actors and the directors that teamed up to provide some of the most memorable performances of the past year. "Some of these actor-director teams have a history together—remember Ron Howard and Tom Hanks’s breakthrough, Splash, a quarter-century ago?—while others produced their first mind-melds in 2008. Sam Mendes and Kate Winslet even brought marriage and kids to the Revolutionary Road set. But in each case the chemistry was profound, the effect exponential."

DARREN ARONOFSKY and MICKEY ROURKE, The Ringers

NIKE | BLAZER AC LOW

I'm pretty lazy sometimes and tying my shoes can be time-consuming, so you can understand my excitement when I saw these Velcro beauties. Nike Blazer high-tops have been out for while, but now Nike has released low-top Blazers that look absolutely delicious. Nike will be releasing a multitude of colors schemes, but these are the first releases. You can cop these at local Nike retailers for around $70. My birthday just passed, so if you feel bad for forgetting, don't worry... just scoop me up a pair of grey/purple in size 10.5 and all will be forgiven. Thanks!

FACEBOOK | THE MOVIE?

"Columbia Pictures will attempt to bring the story behind Zuckerberg and Facebook to life. There are rumors going around about Michael Cera starring as wiz kid Zuckerberg (via CNet)."

I mean really??? This sounds like the online version of He's Just Not That Into You. OMG he poked you? How hard did he poke you? Did he post on your wall after your date? How many friends do you have in common? Her status says "Really sore"...is she talking about me or the gym? Anyways, Michael Cera sounds alright for this role, but Jay Baruchel sounds even better! This moviefilm better have a damn good story-line to keep my short attention span satisfied.

I'm thinking about making a "Tweet on MyFACE: The Documentary"...who's down?

TIM BURTON'S ALICE IN WONDERLAND | FIRST LOOK

Disney has released the first photos from Tim Burton's upcoming 3D re-imaging of Alice in Wonderland. The cast includes Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter, Helen Bonham Carter as the Red Queen & Anne Hathaway as the White Queen. According to SlashFilm, the film is actually in a sequel in a few ways.

"The film begins at a party where Alice, now 17, finds out that she is about to be proposed to in front of hundreds of snooty high society types. She makes a run for it, and of course, ends up following a white rabbit down a hole, back to Wonderland — a place where she visited a decade prior. The White Rabbit is convinced that he has the right girl but Alice doesn’t remember her past visit to Wonderland. The creatures of Wonderland are ready to revolt and are hoping/waiting for Alice to help them, but will she? Can she?" via SlashFilm

Tim Burton's signature eloquent style.

Awww what a cute White Rabbit, played by Michael Sheen (Frost/Nixon).

Eeeeeeerie.

Alice, played by Mia Wasikowska (Defiance).

Tweedledee & Dweedledum, played by Matt Lucas (Little Britain).

Alice in Wonderland is slated to hit theaters March 5, 2010.

I don't know about you, but Johnny Depp's picture just plain out creeps me out...looks like carrot top went homeless and crazy. Can't wait for the Trailer!

POINT BREAK LIVE REVIEW | DRAGONFLY HOLLYWOOD

Let me tell you something, I was treated to a hefty serving of Point Break Live this weekend and I want to go back for seconds! This hilarious play kept me laughing from start to finish; enough so that my cheeks are still hurting. Our lovely friend Sarah was kind enough to write a review of the show for DeluxeGravy! Enjoy

“100% pure adrenaline!” Bodhi Sativa yells. And he is absolutely right. Saturday night at the Dragonfly’s packed-to-the-gills production of “Point Break Live!” it was hard to tell who was enjoying the better ride: the squirt gun-wielding, fake blood-spurting, gyrating, levitating, near-naked cast of surfer bros-cum-masked criminals, or the audience, decked out in rain ponchos, ready to experience the figurative and literal comedic downpour that is the
live stage production of the 1991 Keanu Reeves classic.

Written by Jaime Keeling and adapted for stage by directors
Thomas Blake, George Spielvogel and Eve Hars, “Point Break Live!” simultaneously snuggles up to and thumbs its nose at Kathryn Bigelow’s "Point Break," which depicts Reeves as Johnny Utah, a college athlete-turned-FBI agent who embarks on an adrenaline-soaked mission to take down a gang of surfers, led by Patrick Swayze’s Bodhi, who moonlight as presidential-masked bank robbers to finance their “endless summer.”

With Blake taking on the role of goldielocked Roach and Spielvogel giving a hilarious turn as
Gary Busey’s meatball sandwich-chomping Angelo Pappas, it is easy to see we are in good hands. The cast navigates through their B-movie roles with an impressive mix of camp, irony and heart. Tobias Jellinek ably fills Swayze’s shoes (albeit while barefoot and shirtless), Jennifer Jean vamps as Utah’s surfer girlfriend, David Simon strips to boxers as Agent Harp, and Jan Milewicz and John Miller lather each other up as lovably dimwitted surfer bros Grommet and Nathaniel.

But the most charming part of “Point Break Live!” is its unsuspecting star, chosen each night by the audience following a series of crippling auditions (Keanu-wannabes must be able to recite lines while doing jumping jacks) to portray Johnny Utah –on Saturday night, birthday boy John filled the role – in all of his monotone glory. In order to ensure that Utah delivers his line in true Keanu fashion, a team of professionals is standing by – Lisa Renee gives direction as Bigelow, Adam Douglas provides props, and the versatile Christie Waldon guides Utah as the show’s production assistant, holding out cue cards to give him his lines, kicking him to the floor to remind him when his college knee injury is flaring up again and filling in as his stunt double during the perilous fight scenes.

Add in some impromptu sky diving and surfing montages, a smathering of fake blood, and a healthy dose of inter-audience gun fights, and you’ve got yourself one of the most refreshingly retro nights out Los Angeles has to offer.

"Point Break Live!" plays every Friday and Saturday at 8PM at The Dragonfly (
6510 Santa Monica Blvd. in Hollywood.). Tickets: $20 at TheaterMania.com or 866-811-4111. More information at www.thedragonfly.com.

1ST DAY OF SUMMER 2009 | LA PUBLIC BEACH RECOMMENDATIONS

Today is officially the first day of summer 2009! In honor of this momentous occasion I thought it would only be appropriate to let you know the inside scoop on some of LA's best beaches. There's a beach for every occasion, weather it be surfing, tanning, or just plain people-watching. Check it out below:

We'll work our way down the coast north-to-south.

Leo Carillo - 1.5 miles of beach for swimming, surfing, windsurfing, surf fishing and beachcombing. Leo Carillo is best know for its campgrounds that features great back-country hiking, nature walks & campfires. The park is located 28 miles northwest of Santa Monica on the Pacific Coast Highway. via CAparks It's a little bit of a drive from the city, but well worth it if you're looking for a mini-getaway with some good friends.

Zuma Beach - One of the most popular and clean beach's in LA, Zuma is known for it's great surf and white sands that span almost 3 miles. This beach has tons of public parking, changing and shower facilities, and a handful of quaint restaurants within walking distance.

Santa Monica Beach - 3.5 miles of beach with sunshine almost all year round, Santa Monica Beach is the destination for someone that wants more than just beach time. This beach has plenty of beach volleball courts and with attractions nearby such as the Santa Monica Pier and 3rd Street Promenade , there certainly won't be a shortage of entertainment.

Venice Beach - The biggest tourist destination of all the LA beaches, Venice is best known for it's Ocean-front walk and great people-watching. I suggest Venice if you're looking to cool off and relax; take a nice stroll down the boardwalk and check out some of the great stores and eating spots along the way. Don't forget, Venice Beach is also home to Muscle Beach (the outdoor gym where musclemen soak in the awkward stares of onlookers wondering if their taking HGH or steroids..) If you're in Venice in the evening make sure to hit up some bars on Main Street and/or Abbot Kinney!

Marina Del Rey - Romantic much? If you like long walks on the beach, beautiful views and boats floating by in the sunset...this is your destination. Within walking distance of Venice Beach, Marina Del Rey offers a more local beach feel. MDR is the perfect destination for a nice quiet evening stroll with undisturbed beach time, bring a blanket and some fruit if you're looking to seal the deal ;)

Manhattan Beach - Just 3 miles south of LAX, Manhattan Beach has lots of activities for beachgoers. A scenic 928-foot-long pier at the end of Manhattan Beach Boulevard offers fishing all year round and the Roundhouse Marine Studies Lab and Aquarium at the end of the pier is free to the public, which includes a knarley Shark Tank. (that's right I said knarley, brah!) Enjoy a 9-hole public golf course, surfing, and volleyball at the beach, and Sunday afternoon concerts in Polliwog Park during this summer. The city is host to tons of events; including the International Surf Festival, volleyball and tennis tournaments, & numerous running and bicycle races! via About Make sure to check our Hermosa Beach Pier nearby for some local watering holes.

Redondo Beach - This is the ultimate LA weekend getaway. Redondo Beach is home to multitude of attractions. The beach itself is very clean with lifeguards on duty and families enjoying the sun n' surf. Redondo also has a Pier with great fishing, restaurants, food stands, and souvenir shops. They even have a 16.5 ft. long White Shark on display! If you're looking for an activity, Redondo rents our bicycles & kayaks. Like Boat rides? Take a ride on their 70 ft speedboat that fits 140 passengers; available weekends and holiday afternoons. via About

Looking to do a bonfire? Check out Dockweiler Beach. Located in Playa Del Rey (just south of Marina Del Rey), Dockweiler Beach has three-miles of Los Angeles shoreline that's rarely crowded. Dockweiler is the only beach in LA County where you can have a bonfire.

Want to get naked? Check out San Onofre Beach. This popular nude beach is located just north of Camp Pendleton in San Diego County. I know it's not in LA, but it's the closest nude beach! After a storm of controversy in summer, 2008, an Orange County judge ruled in August that nudity is legal at Trail 6 in San Onofre. via About

Peep this. Ultimate summer soundtrack. Compliments of the CorN'Bals Show HERE.

Got your own beach recommendations? Leave a comment and let us know!

Note to all DeluxeGravy readers: Please be safe and responsible this summer, keep our beaches clean & make sure to wear sunblock!...nobody like's Melanoma...

Whatever Works: Larry David X Woody Allen

Woody Allen. Larry David. Those four words right there should be enough to make you want to read this post. These 2 men have both enjoyed long and distinguished careers and have been the driving force behind such projects as ANNIE HALL, MANHATTAN, SEINFELD, and THE LARRY DAVID SHOW. They bother represent the every day man and have mastered the art of kvetching. Their style, wit, and neuroticism is unparalleled and our two of the greatest comedians of our generation. After working previously twice before but on a smaller scale, Woody and Larry decided to team up again this time to in a much bigger way for Woody's latest film WHATEVER WORKS. Recently, Blackbook Magazine sat down with Larry to talk about working with Woody, Curb Your Enthusiasm, and more. Check out a portion of the interview below and to read the entire thing click HERE.

Did you have to dig deep to play the role of a middle-aged Jewish man?
That aspect was really unusual. I tried to find as many Jews as I could and befriend them and talk to them and see what made them tick. I went back to Brooklyn and walked the streets and interviewed people, “What’s it like being a Jew? How do you behave?”

On Curb Your Enthusiasm, you improvise the majority of your scenes. What was it like to play the lead role in a movie with pages and pages of dialogue?
It was hard. I opened the script and saw the first page that was full of Boris. Then I turned to page 50 and saw Boris. Then, went to the last page and I went “Oy veyzmir.” It was kind of daunting to have to learn all of that, to tell you the truth. As far as the improvising goes, that was another aspect to it that I found daunting because I am used to improvising and kind of making up most of it as I go along. And it was challenging, and I don’t really care for challenges.

STEVEN KLEIN PHOTOGRAPHY X BRUCE WILLIS | W MAGAZINE JULY 2009

Next month's issue of W Magazine features Bruce and Emma Willis in some very risque poses, which is appropriately titled Honeymoon Hotel. Photographed by Steven Klein, these lavishly bold images create a dark and sexy feel. Also, his attention to detail and color schemes is phenomenal. I wonder is Bruce and Emma really get down like this....

I'm a big fan of Steven Klein, he's a very gifted photographer and has been around for years. He has worked with such magazine as Details, Vogue, GQ, Rolling Stone (just to name a few). I suggest you check out some more of his work HERE.
